In a momentous ceremony held at the prestigious Metropolitan Club in New York City yesterday, June 20, the legal industry took part in a landmark event celebrating social impact and inclusion.

The inaugural Legal Benchmarking Group Social Impact Americas Awards shone a spotlight on elite firms and individuals that have not only excelled in their respective fields but have also championed inclusion within their workplaces and industries.

The evening was a testament to the strides made by these trailblazing firms in fostering diverse, equitable, and inclusive environments. From fostering a culture of belonging to implementing policies and programmes that promote fairness and opportunity for all, the winners have set a benchmark for others to follow in the legal profession.

The awards ceremony itself was a blend of sophistication and celebration, attended by prominent figures from the legal community, including managing partners, senior associates, diversity officers, and even aspiring lawyers and students. The evening's attendees also included Chair of the NYC Bar Association's DEI Committee, representatives from Lambda Legal, The Association of Law Firm Diversity Professionals, and representatives from the Fordham University School of Law, including the Black Law Students Association. Individual award winners highlighted the importance of this work not just as a moral imperative but as a strategic advantage that drives innovation and excellence.

The inaugural LBG Social Impact Americas Awards not only celebrated the achievements of the winners but also served as a call to action for the entire legal community. By honouring those who lead by example, these awards aim to inspire others to prioritise social impact and inclusion in their own practices.

As the evening concluded with heartfelt congratulations and renewed determination, there was a collective understanding – one where success is measured not only by billable hours and case wins but also by the positive impact made on the industry and society as a whole.

Congratulations to all shortlisted and winning firms!
